Getting Started #

Your First Login #

When you first log into Pathfinder Campus, you’ll land on your personalized dashboard. This is your home base for everything you need.

Your dashboard shows:

  • Current courses and progress bars
  • Upcoming assignments and deadlines
  • Recent announcements from instructors
  • Quick links to resources and support

Pro tip: Bookmark your dashboard page so you can return to it easily between sessions.

Navigating the Main Menu #

The platform uses a simple menu structure. Here’s what each section does:

My Courses – View all enrolled courses, both active and completed. Click any course card to enter the course space.

My Progress – See completion percentages, earned badges, and certificates. This section helps you visualize how far you’ve come.

Resources – Access the library of guides, templates, worksheets, and reference materials available across all courses.

Community – Connect with other learners, join study groups, and participate in discussion forums.

Support – Find help articles, submit support tickets, and access live chat during business hours.

Working with Courses #

Accessing Your Course Content #

Each course is organized into modules or units. Within each module, you’ll find:

  • Video lessons – Watch at your own pace. Use the playback speed controls if you want to speed up or slow down.
  • Reading materials – PDFs, articles, and interactive content that complement the videos.
  • Activities and exercises – Hands-on tasks that help you apply what you’re learning.
  • Quizzes and assessments – Check your understanding before moving forward.

How to move through a course:

  1. Click on the course from your dashboard
  2. Start with Module 1, Lesson 1 (or continue where you left off)
  3. Complete each item in order—the platform tracks what you’ve finished
  4. Check off completed items manually if the system doesn’t do it automatically
  5. Return to the course homepage to see your overall progress

Completing Assignments #

When an assignment is due, you’ll see it highlighted on your dashboard and in the course page.

To submit an assignment:

  1. Click the assignment title
  2. Read the instructions carefully
  3. Complete your work (you may type directly in the platform, upload a file, or both)
  4. Click “Submit” when ready
  5. You’ll receive a confirmation message

Before submitting, always:

  • Review the rubric or grading criteria
  • Check that you’ve answered all parts of the prompt
  • Proofread your work
  • Save a backup copy on your own device

Tracking Your Progress #

The platform automatically tracks your completion rate for each course. You can view this in two ways:

Quick view: Look at the progress bar on your course card on the dashboard. Green means complete, yellow means in progress, gray means not started.

Detailed view: Click “My Progress” in the main menu to see a breakdown of every module, including which lessons you’ve completed and which are still pending.

Setting goals: Many students find it helpful to set a weekly completion target. For example, “I’ll complete two modules per week.” Mark this in your personal calendar to stay accountable.

Communicating and Getting Help #

Connecting with Instructors #

Each course has an assigned instructor or facilitator. You can reach them through:

Discussion boards – Post questions in the course forum. Your instructor will respond within 24-48 hours (weekdays).

Direct messages – Use the messaging feature for private questions about your grades or personal circumstances.

Office hours – Some instructors offer live video office hours. Check your course announcements for the schedule and Zoom link.

Email – If you can’t find your instructor through the platform, check the “Instructor Info” section of your course for their email address.

Joining the Learning Community #

You’re not learning alone. The Pathfinder Campus community is here to support you.

Discussion forums – Each course has a discussion area. Introduce yourself, ask questions, and share insights. Responding to others’ posts counts toward participation in many courses.

Study groups – Form or join a study group through the Community section. You can schedule video calls, share notes, and keep each other motivated.

Peer feedback – Some assignments use peer review. You’ll give feedback to classmates and receive feedback in return. This helps everyone learn faster.

Etiquette reminder: Keep all communication respectful, constructive, and professional. Avoid sharing personal contact information publicly.

Finding Technical Support #

If you encounter technical issues, help is available.

Common issues and quick fixes:

  • Can’t log in? Use the “Forgot Password” link and check your spam folder for the reset email.
  • Video won’t play? Try refreshing the page, clearing your browser cache, or switching browsers (Chrome and Firefox work best).
  • Upload failed? Check your file size (must be under 25MB) and file type (PDF, DOCX, JPEG, PNG are accepted).
  • Page not loading? Make sure you’re using an updated browser and that JavaScript is enabled.

Still stuck? Click “Support” in the main menu and either:

  • Search the help articles for step-by-step guides

  • Use live chat during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm EST)

  • Accessibility: Turn on captions for videos, adjust text size, or enable screen reader compatibility
  • Time zone: Make sure deadlines display in your local time

Study Strategies for Online Learning #

Managing Your Time #

Online learning requires self-discipline. Here are strategies that work:

Create a study schedule: Block out specific times each week for coursework, just like you would for an in-person class.

Break it into chunks: Instead of one marathon session, study for 30-60 minutes with short breaks. This improves retention.

Prioritize deadlines: Check your dashboard every Monday to see what’s due that week. Tackle the most urgent items first.

Minimize distractions: Turn off social media notifications, close unnecessary tabs, and let family or roommates know when you need focused time.

Staying Motivated #

It’s normal for motivation to dip. When it does:

Revisit your goals: Remind yourself why you enrolled. What will completing this course make possible for you?

Celebrate small wins: Finished a module? Give yourself a treat. Submitted an assignment early? Share the win with a friend.

Connect with others: Post in the community forum or reach out to a classmate. Talking through challenges helps.

Ask for help: If you’re struggling with content or feeling overwhelmed, contact your instructor or a support advisor. They can point you toward resources or offer extensions if needed.

Taking Effective Notes #

Good notes make studying easier. Try these methods:

Cornell method: Divide your page into three sections—notes, keywords, and summary. This helps you review efficiently later.

Digital tools: Use apps like Notion, Evernote, or OneNote to organize notes by course and module. You can search them easily and access them anywhere.

Annotation: If the platform allows it, highlight or comment directly on reading materials. This keeps your thinking connected to the source.

Troubleshooting and FAQs #

Frequently Asked Questions #

Q: How long do I have access to my courses?
A: Most courses remain accessible for 12 months after enrollment. Check your specific course page for details.

Q: Can I download course videos?
A: Some courses allow downloads for offline viewing. Look for the download icon beneath the video player.

Q: What if I miss a deadline?
A: Contact your instructor as soon as possible. Late submissions may receive reduced credit, but many instructors offer grace periods or extensions for valid reasons.

A: Yes. The platform is mobile-responsive. For the best experience on smaller screens, use the Pathfinder Campus mobile app (available on iOS and Android).

Q: How do I drop a course?
A: Go to “My Courses,” find the course you want to drop, and click “Unenroll.” Be aware of refund policies before dropping.

Q: What browsers work best?
