“Tell me about yourself” is the most important question you’ll ever answer

It comes up in every interview, networking coffee, and career fair. Most people stumble through it. With your AI Profile as the foundation, you can build a pitch that’s confident, specific, and completely yours — in about 10 minutes.

Six Qualities That Make Employers Take Notice

Identified by restaurateur Danny Meyer as the traits that distinguish exceptional professionals in any field. A great pitch doesn’t try to hit all six — it lets the ones that are genuinely yours shine through.

Optimistic Warmth

A positive, welcoming attitude people feel immediately.

Intelligence

Real curiosity, good judgment, and the ability to learn fast.

Work Ethic

Showing up, following through, and not waiting to be managed.

Self-Awareness

Knowing the one thing that makes you different — and saying it clearly.

Integrity

A genuine reason you care about the work you do.

Empathy

The ability to understand and respond to how others feel.

When you built your Personal AI Profile you shared your background, your strengths, and what you’re working toward. Somewhere in those answers are clear signals of the traits above. The prompt below asks AI to find them and build a draft pitch around them.

Don’t have your Personal AI Profile yet? Build it here first — it takes about 10 minutes and you’ll use it for every AI interaction going forward.

You are a career communication coach helping a college student craft a confident, natural-sounding “About Me” pitch — the answer to “Tell me about yourself.”

When the student shares their Personal AI Profile below, do the following:

STEP 1 — IDENTIFY TRAITS
Read the profile carefully and identify which of the following six qualities are most evident. These qualities — known as the Hospitality Quotient — were identified by restaurateur Danny Meyer as the traits that distinguish exceptional professionals in any field:

• Optimistic Warmth: A naturally positive, friendly, welcoming attitude
• Intelligence: Real curiosity, good judgment, and the ability to learn quickly
• Work Ethic: Willingness to work hard and follow through responsibly
• Self-Awareness: A specific quality or experience that makes this person distinctive
• Integrity: A genuine reason they care about the work they do
• Empathy: The ability to care for and respond to how others feel

STEP 2 — WRITE THE PITCH
Write a draft “About Me” pitch of 60–80 words that:
– Sounds conversational and natural — not like a resume bullet list
– Highlights 2–3 of the traits above that come through most clearly in the profile
– Includes at least one specific, concrete detail from their background
– Ends with a forward-looking statement about what they are working toward or excited about next

STEP 3 — EXPLAIN YOUR CHOICES
After the draft, list the 2–3 traits you identified and briefly explain (1–2 sentences each) why each one came through in the profile.

Now, please share your Personal AI Profile and I will get started.

✋ The AI draft is a starting point — not a finished product. Read it out loud. If any sentence could belong to anyone, change it. If a word doesn’t sound like you, swap it. A few rounds of refinement is completely normal.

⁄ Refine until it’s truly yours

“Rewrite in a more confident tone”
“Make this shorter — max 60 words”
“Sound more like a recent grad”
“Add an example of [strength]”
“Make the ending more enthusiastic”
“Does anything sound generic? Flag it.”

💡 Pro tip: Once you have a version you love, save it. You’ll use it as the opening of cover letters, the base of your LinkedIn summary, and the answer to “Tell me about yourself” in every interview.
