The Coaching Mindset
AI-powered coaching tools for the Course Introduction. Four lessons, four tools each — designed to help leaders build a genuine coaching culture using Socratic teaching methods.
How to use these tools
Each tool is a prompt you copy and paste into the AI platform of your choice — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot. The AI acts as an experienced executive coach, asking one question at a time and waiting for your response.
Socratic Practice deepens your thinking before or during a lesson. Self-Assessment audits where you stand right now. Reflection consolidates learning after a lesson. Peer Practice gives you a structured exercise to try with a colleague.
SOCRATIC PRACTICE
An AI executive coach helps you examine your default mode — when do you reach for expertise, and what does that cost the person in front of you?
SELF-ASSESSMENT
Examine your identity as an expert — where does it serve you, and where does it get in the way of the people you lead?
REFLECTION
After the lesson, debrief what changed in your thinking about expertise, leadership identity, and what it means to help.
PEER PRACTICE
Practice the same conversation twice with a partner — once as the expert, once as the coach. Notice what changes for both of you.
SOCRATIC PRACTICE
An AI executive coach challenges you to examine the real culture of your team — not the aspirational version, but the lived one.
SELF-ASSESSMENT
Honestly assess where your team or organization sits across the four pillars of a coaching culture — before seeing the framework in the lesson.
REFLECTION
After the lesson, surface the gap between the culture you thought you had and what the Four Pillars framework reveals.
PEER PRACTICE
Work with a partner to map your team’s culture honestly — as people actually experience it, not as it appears in presentations.
SOCRATIC PRACTICE
An AI executive coach helps you examine the gap between how you think you listen and what your inner experience during conversations actually reveals.
SELF-ASSESSMENT
Audit your actual listening patterns in recent conversations — not how you intend to listen, but what you actually do when someone is talking.
REFLECTION
After the lesson, revisit a recent conversation through the three listening levels — and surface what you heard, and what you didn’t.
PEER PRACTICE
A structured exercise: one person speaks without interruption, the other listens without advising. Then roles reverse. Debrief what each person noticed.
SOCRATIC PRACTICE
An AI executive coach helps you examine the cost of your own helping habits — what drives them, what they protect, and what they take from the people in your care.
SELF-ASSESSMENT
Track your helping impulses honestly — how often in the last week did you give a solution when a question would have served better?
REFLECTION
After the lesson, name someone whose development you may have unintentionally slowed — and what you’ll do differently.
PEER PRACTICE
A structured conversation where you’re forbidden from giving advice. Your only tools: questions, silence, and reflection. Practice with a real situation your partner brings.
