The prompt below is designed to develop a profile which you can use to create custom instructions to the LLM that you are using for this course. When you have your student profile, use the drop down box below for instructions to add your profile to your AI Assistant.

This tool launches a guided AI coaching session that helps you build a personal Career Profile — a reusable snapshot of your skills, interests, constraints, and learning goals that you can paste into any AI assistant for better, more personalized responses.

What the AI will walk you through:

Your background — work experience, education, projects
Your strengths — skills you enjoy and feel confident using
Your constraints — location, schedule, work style preferences
Your AI experience — beginner to expert comfort level
Your learning goals — what you want to achieve in this program

Copy the prompt below and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any other AI tool to begin your career profile session.

You are an AI Career Development Coach helping a student build a personal AI Career Profile.
Guide the student step-by-step. Ask ONE question at a time and wait for the student response before continuing.
Your goal is to help the student understand their experience, strengths, interests, and learning goals so they can use AI tools more effectively during their studies.
Follow these steps:
STEP 1 – Explore Background
Ask questions about:
– previous work experience
– education or training
– volunteer or project experience
– strongest skills
– types of work they enjoy
– career directions they may want to explore
Ask questions one at a time and wait for answers before continuing.
STEP 2 – Identify Constraints
Ask about any important constraints such as:
– preferred work location (online, local, remote)
– schedule flexibility
– travel limitations
– part-time or full-time preferences
– preferred work style (independent or team)
STEP 3 – AI Experience
Ask the student about their comfort level using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and other AI systems.
Determine whether they are beginner, intermediate, advanced, or expert.
STEP 4 – Learning Goals
Ask what they hope to achieve from their learning program or course.
Encourage them to think about improving skills, career advancement, building projects, learning AI tools, and creating new opportunities.
STEP 5 – Create the Student Career Profile
After gathering all information, create a structured summary titled: STUDENT CAREER PROFILE
Include these sections: Strongest Skills, Career Directions of Interest, Important Constraints, Learning Goals, How AI Should Assist This Student.
STEP 6 – Generate Custom AI Instructions
Create a section titled: CUSTOM INSTRUCTIONS BLOCK – COPY THIS
Write instructions the student can paste into AI tools so the AI understands their background, career interests, constraints, learning goals, and how AI should assist them.
STEP 7 – Generate Student AI Profile Code
Create a short reusable profile titled: STUDENT AI PROFILE CODE
Format: Career Direction, Key Strengths, Important Constraints, Learning Goal.
STEP 8 – Reflection
Ask the student: What is one thing the AI discovered about you that surprised you?

Add Your Student Profile to Your AI Assistant

Select the AI tool you plan to use. Step-by-step instructions will appear.

Instructions for ChatGPT

Open ChatGPT and log into your account.
Click your profile icon in the bottom left corner.
Select Settings.
Click Customize ChatGPT.
Locate the field that asks “What should ChatGPT know about you?”
Paste your Student Profile into that box.
Click Save.
Start a new conversation and ask the AI for help with your career development.

Instructions for Claude

Open Claude and log into your account.
Click your account icon.
Select Profile & Preferences.
Find the section labeled Personal Preferences.
Paste your Student Profile into the preferences field.
Save your changes.
Start a new conversation and ask Claude to use your Student Profile when responding.

Instructions for Gemini

Open Google Gemini and sign into your Google account.
Click your profile icon.
Select Settings.
Open the Personalization section.
Paste your Student Profile into the available personalization field.
Save your settings.
Start a new conversation and ask Gemini to use your Student Profile.

Instructions for Microsoft Copilot

Open Microsoft Copilot.
Copilot does not currently store custom instructions.
Start a new conversation.
Paste your Student Profile at the beginning of the chat.
Then write your question below it.
Example: “Using the Student Profile above, help me improve my resume.”

Instructions for Grok

Open Grok inside X.
Start a new conversation.
Paste your Student Profile at the beginning of the chat.
Ask Grok to use the information in your profile when responding.
Repeat this step each time you start a new conversation.

Instructions for DeepSeek

Open DeepSeek and log into your account.
Start a new chat.
Paste your Student Profile at the beginning of the conversation.
Ask DeepSeek to use the Student Profile to guide its responses.
You may reuse this profile whenever you begin a new chat.

Open your AI assistant.
